Talk about a surprise. Plenty of new iPods.

Apple

Go to Apple first, watch the keynote, look at all the features, get a grip on it, then tell us what you think. I’m still kinda lost.

I’ve been struggling with which device to get to use for organizing my life. I have a great LG phone with full QWERTY keyboard that I enjoy using but it doesn’t work with Mac’s iSync. That means no iCal or Address book synchronization.

I HATE DOUBLE ENTRY. I want to put an event, to do, reminder into iCal on my Mac, hit sync and have it transfer over EVERYTHING to the mobile device, including the reminder time and alarm style. So far nothing is available that works flawlessly with the Mac (not to mention Verizon).

The iPod touch is EXACTLY what I want. From the looks of it, it’ll sync with iCal and Address book just fine. I’ve already listed my 30GB iPod Video on Craigslist to put money towards the new iPod Touch. I’ll report back when I’ve got it.

(BTW - already have had offers on the iPod just 3 minutes after posting it on CL - crazy!)

Watching iPod touch part of the keynote right now.

Looks as equally great as the iPhone. But my issue is storage. I have the 80gb iPod now, which only has about 25gb of music on it, but quite a bit of videos and tons of files I store on it as a mobile hard drive.

16gb is nowhere near enough for me.

Rogers should be launching the iPhone in Canada right before Christmas, and I’d much rather get that, use primarily as a phone, and be able to carry along a couple thousand songs if I get bored.

But as a music device, I’m holding out until they at least up the drive to 40gb.

Anyone else think the Nano colours are a little too Eastery?

I agree with your Travis. I am a big Apple fan and have owned every ipod to date. Why would I upgrade my currect ipod video with the newest? Why buy an ipod touch if I have an ipod and an iphone (or just an iphone)? And who in their right mind needs video/cover flow/etc on something as small as a nano?

I am actually most dissatisfied with the fact that they lowered the prices of the iphone. Gotta make room for the holiday rush I guess.

-1 point for apple from me.

I can’t make up mind whether I prefer the new nano or the old one?

The “iPod classicâ€? as they are calling it now, can hold up to 160GB now. I guess you have to decide what you are in the market for. Do you want a lot of space to hold tons of music and movies? Or do you want the ability to get on the internet, keep iCal and Address Book handy, play with your music and movies?

I can actually see myself using all the products from the Shuffle all the way to the iPhone in different scenarios and situations. The question is, which situation will I find myself in need of a device most often? (You know they are just spoon feeding the technology they have back at the Apple labs. They just feed us upgrades bit by bit, because they know we will buy them.)

I am actually not surprised that they lowered the price of the iPhone. The mobile phone market is on the move constantly. The day the iPhone came out other manufacturers were ripping it apart figuring out how it works and developing their response products.

The techies and innovators have already indulged themselves. Now it’s time to make the phone, not only appealing to the next level of consumers, but make it affordable. That’s what we are seeing here.

An iPhone with everything but the phone, and a leveling out of the pricing of the former with the latter. That’s all I took away from today’s event… the rest was very much just same old Apple hoopla.

Though I must admit, I did think the Starbucks deal (*the fact that there is the deal, not what it is*) was cooler than most of the reactions out there. That’s a big connection irrespective of what it is, and they’re doing a fine job making their technology part of everyday culture.

Wow….$200 price cut on the iPhone. I would have expected SOME, but that’s huge.

I think it was pretty big news today. They’ve been talking about a widescreen iPod since before the Zune was even released so how is it not big news that it’s finally here?

I for one am excited to get the iPod Touch and see how it is.

I think the new iPod looks ugly (the classic). The touch seems like a dumber version of the iPhone. I don’t really get why they would release a gadget exactly the same, but without the phone functionality!

So the touch is like an iPhone, but not phone? So you can own one without signing your soul away to a telecom giant…

I for one am very excited about the iPod Touch. The iPhone is not currently available in Alaska, and who knows if it ever will be. This allows me to get basically all the same features, minus the phone part. And at 16GB, it’s twice the capacity of the iPhone for the same price.

I agree that iPod Touch and iPhone price cut are by far the biggest news here - and that’s actually quite substantial.

I couldn’t loose my blackberry to get an iPhone so the iPod touch is a welcome addition to the lineup and I will get one as soon as I can.

Same, I can’t part with the Sidekick yet so I went out and got the Touch. Having no problems yet and syncing up everything has been fairly easy. Gotta say good job to Apple for that one!
