Since several people have seemed to get on the website craze, wanted to see what everyone thought of some of these sites for sale:
proxied.us
bleachbuzz.com and onepiecebuzz.comMore to come...

I think the .coms are solid but the .us is below average

The monthly revnue is listed as $20-$50 but for the first half of January he has only made $1.50? I've been looking at Sitepoint a lot lately (great place!) and I've realised that you have to do your due diligence on the real numbers they post and really suss out where the traffic comes from and exactly how it converts.
As for the script sites, why not get the script yourself and install it, wait a couple of months and see if you can do any good? I'm steering clear of script sites because there is nothing to stop the owner from selling a duplication of the site the next week.
My $0.02 :)

I was actually more of a fan of proxied.us but it was sold with another site for $400.

I agree, most of these guys list the one month with the highest revenue as their "average" - and it's usually the month that they clicked their own ads a bunch and got away with it.

What I've found a lot on SitePoint is that in the comments, people will rip 'scammers' or people with dishonest info apart. Self regulating community... nice.

That's true, very nice.

Wow, great numbers Ross. Nice blending of the ads as well, they should convert pretty well.

Thanks Travis,
Has anyone picked up on my evil plan for google index domination? (Involving the front page)
My only problem is that the crap php library I'm using now is broken and won't spit out the product review (or any actual text content instead of just a bunch of pictures) so I'm going to have to go back to rails - which I can do now that my new host supports it.

How does everyone feel about the name www.findrentals.net
Seems pretty solid to me? Considering purchasing for < $100

That's a pretty good domain. Would would you plan to do with it?
Original Young Go Getter -
Not sure if I would just leave it parked to earn some income, or AdSense it... or develop it some other way.
How much would you all pay? He's willing to consider different offers. Just trying to get a feel for how much to pay.
No Debt Plan -- Living Debt Free -
If you're going to let it sit and fill it up with Adsense, I'd think it would take you at least 3 or 4 months to make that $100 back.
If you plan to develop the site then $100 isn't too bad.
If you can get him into the $50 range it might be a little more promising.

Travis... can you walk me through how this works? If I purchase it from him, I'll need to transfer it to GoDaddy where my hosting is, right? That'll cost me $7.99 from GoDaddy unless he includes it. After that am I good to go?
Edit: It is registered at NameCheap. Just trying to make sure I understand this... I can create an account at NameCheap, then point the domain towards my hosting at GoDaddy, thus avoiding the $7.99 fee. Right?
No Debt Plan -- Living Debt Free -
To transfer a domain you pay pretty much the same amount you would to register it, per year. NameCheap is $8.88 and GoDaddy and the rest of them are somewhere in that area.
Original Young Go Getter -
Purchased FindRentals.net for $45. Setup a free account on NameCheap.com which is where it was registered. He will push the name to my account for free, and then I can point it towards GoDaddy.
Another baby step...

Doing a GoDaddy to GoDaddy transfer of ownership is free - just FYI.

I just bought a three letter domain, www.n93.org, there's nothing there but a for sale spot right now. It's rare you'll come by a 3 letter domain (even tho its .org) because every one ever is taken at this point. There are 18million plus results for n93 because its a nokia phone.
Probably going to throw it on sitepoint and hopefully make my $20 back.
Working on a movie script -
SSM you might try a domain parking service for it... like parked.com or similar just to see what you get. If no clicks then I'd sell it?
No Debt Plan -- Living Debt Free -
I've never looked into a parking service. I'll do some quick research on that.
Working on a movie script -
I've now parked babybought.net, kmull.net, and mompick.net with NameDrive.com. We'll see how this works out since my domains are not misspellings of common links, etc. Who knows? Feel free to visit and see what you think, how it works...

I just parked www.spokane2008.com at parked.com - seems pretty cool.

Eric, did you add 10 domains to get into parked.com?
I'm still waiting for the guy to transfer findrentals.net to me...
No Debt Plan -- Living Debt Free -
Yeah I had to put 10 on the list but I don't have to actually point the domains there. I really like their system though - spokane2008.com is great.

I am now the happy owner of findrentals.net. I've got it parked currently with my others, but plan to develop it SEO style... in the future.

Nope :) Unless you offered something with more than 4 zeros behind it ;)

4 zero's?! $10,000?! - yowza.

;) I said more than 4 ... !
Nah I may sell it in the long run, but want to give it my shot first. Of course I will be spending some time at your SEO site to learn how to do it best, etc.

Some other domains I'm interested in, and what purposes I would use them for. What do ya'll think?
These are either $39 or below.
(all are .com)
CalendarSale -- cheap Calendar storefront?
NoDudes -- girls only forum? target teen market?
SantasSale -- Christmas sales?
WirelessSaving -- cellphone affiliate/ads
xmasbaby -- Christmas ads?
ExtraCoupon -- Another coupon site?
LearnToEat -- diet site / adsand another... HotPokerLinks.net ($30)
and another... indiaflights.net ($25)
Not for me:
GetAKitten (I can't remember who owns AdorableCuties, but could go hand in hand)I think the best looking would be WirelessSaving and LearnToEat.
Thoughts?
No Debt Plan -- Living Debt Free -
CalendarSale, NoDudes, and SantasSale are all good domains.
The Calendar and Santa sites would be good for dropshipping stores, but would take quite a bit of work and time to build and move any products.
Original Young Go Getter -
SantasSales has really good holiday potential. Which could mean a seasonal influx in $
