General Business: Hirise Launch: Any 37s fanboys here?

Maybe, I mostly liked BaseCamp but was always frustrated when there was something I couldn't do that I thought was pretty essential or nice to have.
The reason big CRM applications and the like try to do everything is because everyone wants to do a little something different from others. While this leads to bloatware, it also has mass appeal. Hirise only works if it has what you want in it.

I just use activeCollab - it's free, open source, and I get to manage it.

I like the idea of Highrise, but I can't see myself keeping record of every form of contact with existing and potential clients. Salespeople obviously could benefit, but aren't they already sold on Salesforce.com?

Salesforce is good for medium to large companies, but too cost prohibitive for small businesses or startups (it starts at $995 for 5 users).
I didn't really look at Hirise's features, but I wonder if it can grab contacts from Outlook. That's where I store everyone's contact info when I get their business card.

You can import vCards for your contacts.

Just signed up; can't see the appeal yet — maybe it'll emerge over time, but it's certainly not a product I ‘get’ at a first glance.
I suspect that it becomes powerful only as a collaborative tool — the usefulness as a note-taking solution isn’t worth the effort for a single user.

I actually read that you can only upload one vCard at a time. I read there is a way using Apple's iCalendar (I think) to merge all of your contacts into one big vCard, and then upload that. PC users seem to be out of luck for now though.
I wasn't very impressed with Hirise. Also, I like goplan.info better than the 37 Signals organization software. 37 Signals is a very well run company, but also is somewhat overrated.

After using it for a few days I'm not that impressed. I was on the GoPlan beta and it was looking great, I might have to revisit it.
The simplicity of HighRise is good, but you have to pay $49/mo to get Cases which should be an unlimited feature anyway, and there are some quirks to adding tasks. The app just really feels unfinished to me at this stage, but maybe it will get better with time.

I signed up when it launched, but I don't really have a need for it at the moment. I may see the need for it later though. It's well built though, and 37s puts out some great stuff.

I spent another hour or so on it trying to find a need as well, and I have to agree with Ross "the app just really feels unfinished to me at this stage".
I can't see them combining Basecamp, Highrise, Ta Da List, and all the others into one dream app anytime soon, but that would make me sign up in a second.

They have a bunch of apps which do a few things well.
I don't think it would be possible to tie them all together really well because they have such different initial purposes.
I'm wondering if they are going to continue to support the older apps as much while they are generally focussed on their latest projects such as Highrise right now. I haven't been following the other apps but I haven't heard anything hugely exciting on SvN about the other apps, are they going to the graveyard slowly?
