Has anyone ever ate at a Pita Pit? I've given thought to a franchise. The investment is substantial, but so are the profit projections. I used to eat at the one at Washington State University (Pullman, WA) - it was great! They stayed open late to curb your hangover too.

Just curious to know what others thought about it.

A million times - we have one right on campus town by all the bars here at ISU -- excellent food and a excellent franchise if you find the right location.

I think any college area would be great for it.

That seems like a fair amount of money. What exactly are the profit projections?

I had never heard of the place until a few months ago.

    What is the profit margin?

Added: Gee the franchises are cheaper in Canada!

the place looks good... i've never heard of it until now, but it looks like good food... the only one around here is next to UMASS - Amherst (40 min. away). So I guess if you find a good - sized campus, it'll work well...

there's one here in Austin (next to The University of Texas) and it seems to be pretty popular (and the food is delish to boot). I'm not sure about the other locations, but I think the reason the one here does so well is it has a very small-time local feel. I bet over 50% of the customers don't even realize it's a chain. If someone was looking into investing in a franchise, this should be near the top of the list for sure.

Never heard of the pita pit- is it like, say, baja fresh, a kind of more upscale fast food chain. Or do you all even have Baja Fresh :?:

So what does everybody have, we've got:

Hardees, Subway, Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Arby's and Dunkin Donuts, probably the only good places about around here that are actually well known around the US if you ask me.

Also, weird name, but Pita Pit sound very good, I should find one and give them a try. Oh yeah, we've got a Pizza Hut and Dominoes, need a Papa John's :D YA!

Waffle House is mainly a Southeastern chain, it goes north to probably Virginia and West I would figure to Texas. The highest priced meal is $9.99 and that is for a pretty good T-bone steak, eggs, and hashbrowns. (The hashbrowns are their signature dish- all of their ads talk about how there are 1 and a half million different ways, literally, to have your hashbrowns done). And they're open 24 hours a day, which is always nice.

i guess us texans eat a lot...because every restaurant mentioned in this thread does business here. everything's bigger in texas i guess...even the people for that matter.

On another note, I don't think I could ever buy into a franchise. There's just something about creating my own way of doing things----i would never want anyone to give me their plan and tell me how to run it. I would assume many of you here feel the same way...

Actually, Waffle House has locations up north. I've even seen them around the south part of Ohio. If I'm not mis-taken, I think I seen one in New York too, but I may be wrong about that...
David H Walker is correct, we have everything here in Texas, except a White Castle, but we have Krystal, so were covered there too.
And my personal opinion, don't do the franchise thing...

Yeah franchising seems sorta like a waste. I mean, with the Pita Pit, why not just start your own Pita place downtown and call it something different - You save the franchise fee and you save a ton of money on construction by being able to choose the type of decor, signage, etc. - you're not forced to use their cookie cutter look.

I think it makes sense with something like McDonalds, but for Pita Pit to charge $250k for a franchise when they're not THAT well known is just not doable.
