    Hey guys,
I'm looking to start a personal/portfolio site. Where do you host? Do you have any recommendations? Any discount deals?
    Let me know,
    Alex.

I'm with GoDaddy right now but from all the horror stories I am ready to leave (smoking good deal, something like $4 for "1000GB and 100GB transfer".

Of course if I got 4,000,000 hits all on the same day, they'd close it off.

I've heard good things about nearlyfreespeech.net.

I have all my sites hosted at MediaTemple - I'm probably 83.74% happy with them. Every host has their ups and downs but MT has been good to me.

I've been with MediaTemple for a couple years now. I agree with Eric, they have their ups and downs (thankfully less frequent over the past few months).

Their cheapest plan is Grid-Service which will give you more than enough storage/bandwidth/etc... if you don't mind paying $20/month.

They're pricier than the mass market GoDaddy's, but you get what you pay for.

Ive got a dedicated box from theplanet.com

Ive been using it for over 4 years now. I have NEVER had to contact support, EVER. I pay 90$ a month but host clients websites for $10-30 per month. It more than covers itself :D

You may want to check out http://www.steadcom.com they have some great hosting plans and their servers are hosted by RackSpace I believe. I used to own a server company about 6 years back, and the only 2 hosts I would use is ThePlanet and RackSpace, they are both incredible.

Needless to say, SteadCom.com has been great! and only $5.00/month!

I've hosted with Bluehost for over a year and am completely happy with them. Incredible support. Great features for the price (about $95/yr) - includes everything you'll need.

And the coolest thing is you can host multiple subdomains. I'm hosting about 10-15 different websites on 1 account.

    Site5 gets me erect.

Had a few small issues with them about a month or so ago. An epic tale can be read here.

I use dreamhost virtual private server. I'm not ready to handle my own dedicated server.

I use godaddy at the moment, have several servers with them, as they are getting bigger their customer supports is lowering it's standards.

Used Aplus.net for some time and had a good experience.
