Wow I'm impressed, especially since I don't see any glaring advertisements on the landing page. Great job.

How long have you had the blog? How long did it take to get to this point? Tell us the back story :)

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments! Back story... hmm.. I started October '06, just re-blogging news from other sources but making sure my SEO stuff is on point (put alts in images, titles in hrefs, meta tags in headers, title must have nokia keywords, etc). I only used adsense ads and probably made around $100-$200 per month with most of the visitors coming from google searches.

When I decided to write more original posts, Nokia's PR started contacting me and sent me to trips for product launches. They also started sending me the latest phones for review (but have to return them eventually of course). So far they flew me off to LA, Finland, and Barcelona. I'm from New York. This was the most incredible part.

After that things just started going up. Traffic is up. I rearranged my theme to complement ads.

I no longer just use adsense. I have combo of adsense, chitika, 2 CPM network ads, 1 affiliate network ads, and the biggest moneymaker is selling direct ads.

    Wow, firstly welcome Mark.

Secondly, that's such a great story, even better that you got noticed by Nokia. Selling direct ads is really great, and in case you havn't heard of it, I would definitely recommend OIOPublisher (my aff. link) to manage your advertising space - that's saved me a lot of time recently.

Other that that look forward to seeing you around here, hopefully you can write a guest post about your successes.

Great story. Your blog has a good theme too, it's not like mobile devices will become obsolete in a year leaving you to start a new blog. Congrats and all the best down the road.

How important was changing your theme to one that was gave your ads a more prominent place on your site?

Did you use one of the premium news themes and have it modified?

@letutor changing my theme to one that gave ads better position was the turning point in how much I'm making right now.

I used a theme from solostream.com and modified it myself.

adsense is only 25% of my income. The rest are divided thru direct ads, CPM ads, Chitika, and affiliates.

Who is the best cpm ad provider or the one you use? Seems a lot people use Chitika. I'm going to have to try them out.

I use Tribal Fusion as 1st tier and Valueclick as 2nd tier for CPM ads. Tribal is the one that pays the most for CPM.

Of course, what I am pointing out is to research what the players in that industry are doing right now so you are prepared.
