Any big paintballers here? Or at least anyone familiar with what the market is like in your area?

I'm curious to know the visibility of the sport in other locations - is it on TV? On billboards?

There is one paintball location within 30 minutes of my house. From what I can tell, they do decent business. I have seen a few VERY low budget commercials late at night for them, but I don't know how much that actually helps them. They generally use flyers located at places like Dunhams, or other places that sell paintball gear - And I would be willing to bet that's where most of their customers/players come from.

I know several people that love paintball.

However, where they play I have no idea. I have never seen it, and it isn't advertised (not that I have seen).

paintball is still an 'underground' sport in my area... however, there is a huge fan base and only a few places to go, and none within an hours drive, so we're left with the municipal park, which is right down the street. Also, with the exception of a few shops (all overpriced, but nice to go in and shoot the breeze with other enthusiasts) there is nowhere to go, so that's why we started our own little local exchange program...

Why am I thinking we need to start a paint ball company?

My father owns the biggest and most established paintball pro-shop and arena in the Spokane area. He's been in business for 15 years+ and it's going strong now. The sport is really developing in this area as a 'sport' - not an underground grunge hobby as it used to be.

He has 3 pro shops. One in Spokane on Division St. (the main strip), One in Coeur d'Alene, ID, also at a busy location, and one at the headquarters where the 2 speedball courts and indoor arena are located.

He can't keep anything in stock - the place is going crazy. I was just curious to know what it's like other places. It's spreading like wild fire...if there isn't an established business in your area that has great prices and knowledgable staff, it may be something to look into. It's a fun industry and there's a ton of money to be made.

The link to my dad's place is in my sig.

what i was thinking is a paintball exchange site... we do that locally, where we have a small numbers of guns (factory seconds/store returns from the local shop) and what we do is exchange people for their gun, along with some sort of fee (usually $20). Then we go and do the same thing with that gun... it's worked quite well, we've been doing it for a couple of years and are considering making a whole online marketplace based on paintball... also, does anyone have any supplier contacts for paintball markers/guns?

Heh...yes ;) But I think you'd have to be a bulk buyer to get a good price from 'em.

Let me know what kind of prices you get on some particular guns, i'll cross reference that with my pops and find out what we could do for you on a wholesale level - could be cheaper then anything else you may get offered right now.
