What's video bookmarking? I haven't really heard about it until you mentioned it.

Really, that's probably because theire are only 3 companies currently offering the service. Basically, you find a video (or song) that you like. It can be on any website on the internet, not just youtube and the other big video-hosts. Then you bookmark it and it gets saved to your profile at clonevideo.com. From here you can then share it with friends or whatever.

Theres a bit more to it of course, but that's it in Layman's terms. Check out www.clonevideo.com for more information on it.

So del.ico.us for videos basically. I think it's viable, especially right now. When does your service go live?

I like the idea. Would it create a copy of the swf video or just call on it when you're looking at your bookmarks?

It'd be cool if you got a bookmarklet button for your browser, like Del.icio.us, to either have it automatically detect the rich-media on the page, or appear as an option when right-clicking on a video. Have it handle all the technical details and process itself. Just click and save.

The interface and experience will have to be radical to the bookmarking world so you don't classified as "del.ico.us for videos basically". Are you behind CloneVideo.com?

Yea, im behind cloneVideo.com. Basically you find a video you want to bookmark, then you hit the bookmarklet and all the info is taken off the page. i.e. the tags, description, title, length of video, author, etc etc. We can manipulate it to take as much or as little info as possible. So it is basically click the bookmarklet and save. Simple as that.

Then when u want to view it again, you go to your profile and click on it. U don't get redirected back to youtube or wherever it came from. Instead we embed the player into our site so it can be viewed there and then, no hassle.

Also, anybody can change, add, delete the tags and description etc. So the videos become easier to find for other users.

So yea i think it cud be pretty succesful. If u have any other problems u think we might run into then do share them here. Cheers.

The service goes into Private Beta tomorrow actually. Then it should go public in 2-3 weeks.

Sweet thanks. You'll get your invite tomorrow. Be warned though, that features are being added/updated on a continual basis. So, to begin with the site will have very basic and limited functionality.

In a way Digg does this atm... i.e. people submit videos from anywhere, if you like it you digg it and your friends can then access your digging profile and see what videos you liked.

Yea we realise digg kind of does this but we feel that as its not a dedicated vidmarking service, that they can pay as much attention to exactly what the people want. Plus i feel that its a bit of a pian using digg. Just IMO

Really? That's strange. It works fine for me and seems to have worked fine for others. It works for me on both browsers. The enter password/username pops up twice, did you enter the m both times?

Is anybody else getting this problem?

Next wednesday users will be able to bookmark from five different video-host. And we will be adding a ton more inline with wht the users demand.

I found your site very interesting. It got me curious to find out similar site. I was able to find out couple of more similar service. Dabble (http://www.dabble.com), uLinkx (http://www.ulinkx.com). Both of them provides pretty good functionality. I'm not sure whether those guys are funded company or not.

I'm sure you guys must be funded.

We have done extensive research intoour competitors, what niche they are targetting, their revenue models etc. We think Ulinkx are pretty much no competition to us. Also it seems Dabble are targetting a more mature audience than us, but that could soon change.

Dabble are currently being funded by 2 angel investors (the CEO is quite popular in Silicon Valley), although they haven't released figures ofthe investment size.

Us on the other-hand have no funding whatsoever, it's all out of our own pockets. We take all the financial risk, but also get to keep all of the profits.

Sorry guys, been away for a couple of days.

SSM - Yea there has been unforeseen problems with bookmarking from Yahoo! Dont fret tho it will be fixed in time.

Travis - Yea, your feedback helped immensely. Very detailed, some great points. As for "fattony". My second name is Anthony (named after my father's brother who died in a car crash before I was even born) and Tony is short for Anthony. So i just thought it would be cool to use fattony as my tag. I've used it on every forum and website that I've ever joined since having the internet.

    Hey SSM,
Good question. You can only currently bookmark music from a page which has mp3 links embedded into it. So for instance you cant bookmark from a Myspace profile etc.
