    Hi everyone,

Great website. Congrats to the creators of this website. Great idea.

Now, i just created this website cigar community .com. I need people to visit my site and need ideas on marketing and advertising it.

Jason G has been great help so far and suggested i ask for Travis.

So far im putting my banner in my signature on every cigar forum i sign up at and post a few comments on those websites.

So i am open to all and any ideas the community may have.

    Thanks.

Firstly, have you established that people will want a cigar community forum? ... and actually use it? (through surveys etc)

I don't know if people would talk about cigars or not. Unless I guess if they ask what cigars are best, where to get them from etc. Is there much competition for selling cigars online? ... if not, why don't you setup an online store and either allow users to post comments/rate cigar brands or run this forum adjacent to the store.

But again, for either of them you need to know if people will use it.

    cheers

Nado, you must not be a cigar afficionado. I definately think people will talk about cigars.

Remember Bill Rancic, the first Apprentice? His first big venture was CigarsAroundTheWorld.com - it was huge. The site is still there although he doesn't own it anymore.

Welcome to YGG cigarcom, we're happy to have you here. By the way, KUDOS on using Lussumo's Vanilla software for your forum, it rocks. I hope you can find YGG as useful as all of us. Alright I gotta jet, it's Friday and I gotta cut loose.

    Nope :) ... which is why I wasn't sure.

Cigars seem pretty rare here, to the point where only the stereotypical pompous rich guys smoke them.

Thanks Eric. Glad to be a part of ygg.com and the vanilla software is great...

Eric is right. There are many people out there who talk about cigars. One website in particular had 588 people visit that forum for Friday only, has somewhere around 460,000 posts and 30,000 threads. Most cigar forums are like this with regard to numbers.

There are a lot of online cigars stores and most of these online stores are real stores that have a large client base. I thought about this and considered probably partnering with someone who has a store already. What do you think?

Well the profits will definitely be in the online store. As even with thousands of members, advertising revenues will be a lot less than you could make with the adjacent store.

Yeah you need to start sourcing things like www.cigarsaroundtheworld.com offers. If you can do that you'll be off to the races. I'm going to join up, I need to catch up on my Cigar love & lingo. Man I love me a good cigar :)

Thanks for the suggestions. Ill start writing emails and making calls on monday.

Im also going to call a few cigar stores i frequent and see if they would like to be my supplier. Maybe i can design a store front, and sell cigars that way. They get free exposure, i get hefty profits.

    @ Eric. Welcome... to CC.com :)

    Keep em coming...

See if you can put some cards out at your local cigar dealers. Don't mention that you are going to start an online store which essentially would be competition for them. But I dont foresee them having a problem with a cigar community.

Someone sugegsted the tagline, "For people who just enjoy havana good time!!!" It's okay.

Hmm thats not bad...when u here it, it makes you just shake ur head and say "Oh god". But it also shows that the site is light-hearted and not popullated by pompous rich-dudes. My 2 cents anyway.
