Hi guys.. I decided to try something different:
http://www.kineda.com/?p=1024After reading SEOmoz’s article on “Technorati Top 100 - Too Easy to Game?� I’ve decided to run a little experiment of my own.
On October 16th at 2pm PST, I will randomly choose one Technorati member who added this blog as a favorite, and send him or her this check for $100, no strings attached.
How far will one hundred dollars go? Apparently this worked for some guy using delicious:

Looked like pretty good odds to get $100, but I am having trouble signing up at Techorati to be a member. I did the sign up, pressed sign up, it cleared the fields, with nothing telling me of a confirmation e-mail or anything. I tried to log in and couldn't. I did repeat.....same thing!

So far I've had 20 people add Kined as a favorite since starting the contest. Still a week to go, so it'll be good to see how many more will add it. :)

Challenge ends in about 3 days. I think it was a worthwhile experiment even though I wasn't able to break into the Top 100.

I agree. A smaller prize would have worked, paying each person a $1 probably would have worked too... but $100 seems to a be a magic number that everyone likes to hear. :)

It was worth it just as an experiment. I think if I put a bit more work into spreading the news about the contest, there may have been a bigger ROI. However, it was still fun.
I think to make a significant impact on Technorati, you need to be in the top 10 of the Top 100 list.
