After seeing the resolution checkup and all the stuff that you guys have done already this year I thought I better get a move on!

At 3:51 AEST Nick and I had the idea to make a CD cover search site.
    At 4:21pm Nick registered JustCoverz.com.
At 4:42 I had been sent some procrastination material over IM and got stuck in Bloglines..
At 5:36pm I'd done some quick keyword research.
At 5:54pm some bugs in the code had been fixed up.
At 6:16pm I got stuck in Bloglines again...
At 6:54pm we had a plan for promotion.
    At 7:01pm the site launched!

We think 1-2 hours to get a site off the ground isn't bad :)

So we present Just Coverz - free printable movie dvd cover search. It's not ready to be dugg or submitted to any galleries yet, but it is fully functional and monetized. Look out for the makeover in the next few days.

Genius. Goes hand in hand with your other site. Nice job.

Great idea Ross! Both of those sites have a really long lifespan. If you're able to make front page search results for album and dvd covers, you'll have a steady flow of adsense income for many years to come.

I love 'em - I don't pirate DVD's so I probably wont be there much, but I don't think a day goes by that I don't use CoverHung for my purchased music.

Nick is a mate from uni.

My initial idea with CoverHunt was that it can be used for fully legal purposes. Buy a CD, rip it, add covers to the id3 tag. When I created it that was all I had in mind, just replacing the 5 step process I previously went through to get covers. Honestly the thought never crossed my mind that you could print the things until recently. DVD cover search at Just Coverz is the natural extension I guess, and it has less love so I won't mind if I decide to sell it :P

Neither of the sites have had any real promotion yet. I haven't gone out of my way to get any links. That will soon change! Despite this CoverHunt has still had exponential growth since launch. Are sig's ever coming back to YGG?

Re:Travis, I totally agree with you. I was thinking about starting a blog or two but all the talk lately about whether they are passive income or not (not) got me thinking about what type of sites build themselves up and only need minor patching occasionally, so that is the direction I might go now.

What is the fastest anyone else has had a site online? Not particularly a whole site, but what is the fastest "something" you've gotten online.

About 1 hour, from buying the domain, transferring, setting up hosting, and getting initial documents uploaded.

So, it looks like we've broken even despite putting in no further effort than what happened at launch. Yay.

Any income from now is free cash :)
