    I've seen this site lately

    http://postsecret.blogspot.com/

Where people anonymously post secrets. It gave me a similar idea for a site where people post what their life dream was and why they're not fulfilling it (or if they are).

I'm also not sure if people would use it. Plus at the moment there's no way for this to make money.

Would you use this site (even just to browse, not post) or (as I'm beginning to think) is this a dumb idea?

    Rabbell,

Honestly, I like the idea. If you could have a section where comments could be added to contribute advice; however you're going to get a lot of negative comments that will need to be monitored.

Anyway, the idea seems simplistic, not to mention the design of the site. Why no run a trail version.

Hey, check out www.journeypages.com. This site is along the lines of what you guys are talking about - you can post your goals for different lengths of time and then report back on how you do in accomplishing them. I think the whole site is by paid subscription only though, not positive. They also offer some other great services on top of just reminders.

We've got a YGG member working on a new site that uses a format that would work nicely for this. I don't think I can say anything about the site until it comes out of beta, but a simple submission with moderation format could make for an interesting read.

43things is similar, perhaps the things people list aren't quite a large as life goals, but the concept is the same...

    rabbell,

Although you're not that attached to the idea, I wanted to add: just because it's been done, doesn't mean it can't be done better. Ideas are cyclical and you'd be hard pressed to come up with something that no one's ever thought of before. You could do it differently and improve on it. Marketing is largely just repackaging, anyway.

You mentioned anonymity. Is anyone else using that format? 43 Things is not anonymous and journey pages appears to be for sale (correct me if I'm wrong.) If you gave this some development, it could be worthwhile. People may prefer to release their unaccomplished goals, ideas, and excuses without being identified or judged. Offering more of a postsecret-like forum where people can comment on the item rather than the person, you know? Users could read other's failures and be inspired and motivated to action. Maybe use a tagline like, Encouragement from Failure. The idea needs some work still, but it may not be time to give up yet. I don't know about you, but I'd never want my excuse to be, "someone's already tried it." Just a thought.

    Cheers.

Well I actually already run one website

    http://www.weswapbooks.com

And I'm working on the US version at the moment so freetime is a factor but I take your point. It is something I'm interested in and something I should maybe give more thought.

    Thanks :o)

I know what you mean regarding freetime. I'm sure everyone on this forum has a thousand ideas that will never be realized because of a lack of time. That was one reason I was so interested in this idea, that's something I'd probably submit to. Seems like it'd be fairly simple to impliment the site as a blog and piggyback on the success of postsecret to promote it. At the same time, knowing where to focus and when to let an idea rest is invaluable.

    Good luck in everything.
